Living in a landlocked country means there are certain foods that are less readily available than others; fresh fish being one of them. However, imagine my delight when I went shopping and saw this :-)

You know you're not in the UK when you get served a pint like this. Icecream anyone?

Despite the economic crisis we're in, new shops keep springing up all over Brno. Today I discovered a new cheese shop and it's fantastic :-)

My colleague Steve has a pin board outside his office door. He uses this pin board to pin up anything from the papers he finds funny or interesting. Today's posting was the recipe for every body's favourite, Coq Au Vin.

Not the best photo in the world, serves me right for taking it in the dark with no flash, but on the way home from work, I noticed this "sculpture" (If you look very hard you can just make it out). It's made entirely from keys and was on display in Prague last May. Why it's here remains a mystery - well to me at least.

For the first time in what feels like an eternity day is longer than night :-) Another sure-fire sign that Spring is here is the shops starting to fill their shelves with Easter eggs. As well as giving chocolate eggs, a Czech tradition is to paint real eggs and give them to people. Today was the first time in my six years of being here that I noticed egg paint on sale.

I decided to go for a wander around the shops today. During my wander I spotted this rather nifty little bag and was intrigued by what it claims to be made from. Didn't intrigue me enough to purchase it though.

We saved the best for last, so before heading to the airport to fly back to Prague, there was just enough time for a visit to the Acropolis.

Our penultimate day in Athens, and once the teaching was done, it was off to explore the city again.
Today's picture is of Socrates' prison.

Day three of the trip and again it was off to uni to teach. Once we were done we went for a long walk around the city. The pic for the day is Linda and me trying to capture ourselves with the Acropolis in the background - if you look really hard it's the blob just behind our heads :-)

Day two of the Athens experience and it was off to the University to give an input session. The building which houses the English department is an absolute maze, and the interior is covered in posters, which I was unable to decipher as I don't speak Greek. As well as posters adorning the walls, there seemed to be the odd pigeon or two wondering the corridors.
The session went really well and it was a pleasure to meet the students, who were so friendly and motivated :-)

Today was day one of my five day trip to Greece. After a 5.00 am start, we arrived in Athens in the late afternoon, plonked our bags in the hotel and went to explore the area. One of the first things I noticed was the fruit growing on the trees that lined the streets. Not something you see everyday in Brno, so it deserves to be blogged :-)

This street sign provided me with a little bit of inspiraton for the day. I wouldn't advise this unless you want people to think you're bats :-)

I was reminded of this recording today and it fits into the category of things that makes me laugh. I find it gets harder to listen to as laughing starts to hurt.

Usually companies use posters of beautiful people in beautiful places to sell their products. This company is using rubber ducks. I still can't work out why. Can anyone enlighten me?

The picture doesn't actually show what I wanted it to, but today my hair changed colour. My lovely hairdresser (the little speck behind me in the mirror) decided red was the way forward, so at certain angles and in the right light, I have dark red hair. The jury's out on this at the mo and I'm hoping that it will have washed out before they return :-)
